Born in 1975 in San Francisco, Justin Bower earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University in 2010 and an undergraduate degree in Art and Philosophy from the University of Arizona. He currently resides and works in Southern California.
Bower’s art has been the subject of several solo exhibitions in galleries across the United States, including a 2010 exhibition at Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills and a later exhibition at New York’s Unix Gallery in 2013. Bower has had solo shows at Lancaster Museum of Art and History, the Pomona Art Museum, and the Riverside Art Museum, as well as group exhibitions at the Torrance Art Museum in Los Angeles. He has received various grants and awards, such as the Feitelson Fellowship Grant, Joan Mitchell Award Nominee, four Outstanding Fellowships from Claremont Graduate University, the TACFA (Tustin Area Council of Fine Arts) Grant, and the Orange County Arts Grant for Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking - Honorable Mention.
Bower's artwork has been featured in publications such as American Art Collector, the LA Times, Modern Painters (September 2013: 100 Best Fall Shows), Studio Visit Magazine, Huffington Post, Artillery Magazine, and New American Paintings.
